Guide to Preparing your own Reception Program

Here's where the fun begins, this is the part of your wedding that is the most flexible and should reflect your personalities, preferences and even, wedding theme:

1. Cocktails - If you're going to have a pictorial just before your reception this is a must.

2. Receiving Line

3. Entourage Introduction and Procession

4. Grand Entrance of the newlyweds

5. Reception Ceremonies - Best to do this early while everybody's still around.

  • Cake Cutting
  • Toast
  • Dove release
  • First Dance

6. Acknowledgement of the Parents & Principal Sponsors

7. Invocation/Prayer for couple's first meal

8. Picture Taking - Again it's better to do this just before the meal to be sure nobody skips out of the picture. Also to keep the congestion off the buffet tables, its best to call out a table number to go to the couple's table for the picture taking, then and only after this will that table be able to line up in the buffet.

9. Wedding Banquet - This is the proper time for the playing of the Audio Visual Presentation or any special numbers.

10. The bouquet and garter toss - be creative in planning this

11. Special Messages from parents/godparents

12. Distribution of souvenirs

13. Closing remarks - Couple's thanks and messages to each other, each other's parents/family

14. Party time - If you hired a band or a DJ this is the time you can let your hair loose.
